So don’t expect compelling content.
Long story short, I’m in a theatre program in which you audition for the season of plays at the beginning of 3rd and 4th year, because it is part of your education to be in these shows. So this is kind of a big deal.
Acting, and the arts in general, can be really hard on your morale. In theatre, your are your own craft and your body is your instrument. I feel like if you do poorly on a math test maybe the test was just really tough or you need to study more next time or not get drunk the night before. With acting, if your performance isn’t good, that means your voice is off or you aren’t using your body properly or you are unable to convincingly portray emotions. If you let it get to you, you can feel really crappy because you feel like there’s something wrong with you. It can be pretty tough stuff.
But hey, outwardly stressing and worrying and complaining isn’t going to get me anywhere. I’ll just inwardly stress and worry and complain. At least I love what I’m doing and am very excited about it. It’ll all be over soon. I have to go rehearse now.
Break a leg to everyone auditioning! You are all stars.
